Why a single garage conversion makes sense
Most single garages in Greater Manchester were built for a car that no longer fits. Modern cars are wider than the ones these garages were drawn around, so the space ends up holding bikes, boxes and a freezer. Converting it gives you a usable room of roughly the size of a small double bedroom, inside the footprint you already own.
Because the walls, roof and slab are already there, a single garage conversion avoids most of the cost and disruption of an extension. There is no digging for new foundations across the garden and, for most attached garages, no planning application. The work is about making an existing shell warm, dry and compliant, which is exactly what we have spent over two decades doing.
It is also a change you will notice every day. A spare bedroom means guests no longer take over the lounge, and a dedicated office means the laptop finally leaves the kitchen table. As one customer put it: "The extra space from the garage conversion is just what we needed." (Homeowner, Stalybridge)
